In 2012, AFC will be sending a new Quarterly Newsletter called AFC Club Newletter - Be Proud in 2012. Our goal is to provide you with pertinent information, news and notes that is helpful to you as you navigate through the soccer year.

As new club news and notes become available, our goal is to ensure that you are up to date. We will be sending the Newsletters every April, June, September and December. If you have some exciting club news that you would like to share, such as your team winning a tournament, winning the league or attending an event, please be sure and let us know.

First off... Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a nice holiday season and had an opportunity to spend some quality time with friends and family.

AFC had a great 2011 and we are extremely thankful to all of you for the dedication and hard work that you provide, which makes this club great. 2012 will be an exciting year and we are looking forward to all of the things the club has planned. Thanks for being part of our family and we look forward to seeing you all in 2012!

2011 AFC Club Highlights

We wanted to recap on some 2011 events that we are very proud of:

AFC Academy Program adds new teams

Our Academy Program is the foundation of our club and we are excited to see so many young soccer players coming out to play academy soccer. It is always exciting to know that the little ones are coming into the club and receiving solid coaching and learning about the game, how to be a good teammate and getting all of the life experiences that come with being part of a team. The academy program added 5 new teams in 2011. These little ones range in age from 7 to 10 years old and it has been a lot of fun to watch the kids get started. If you’re associated with one of these new teams just know that the first year is always a challenge but as everyone gets more comfortable, you’ll do great and it becomes even more enjoyable to watch the kids grow and learn. We are always available to answer any questions or help you with anything so please never hesitate to call or send an email.

Know a player that might want to try AFC Academy Soccer? Please have them visit the team page and contact the coach today. It's free to visit team practices.

AFC Fall Challenge a Huge Success!

The 2011 AFC Fall Challenge was the largest tournament in club history. In fact, we doubled the next largest tournament numbers and more importantly, things went very smoothly and we received many nice compliments from coaches and family members from other clubs. Our yearly tournaments are an extremely important fundraiser for the club, so thanks for all the hard work that each of you put into last year event. We are looking forward to the AFC Spring Classic.

2011 Golf Scramble

What a fun day out at Indian Creek Golf Course! We had a great turnout and the event went perfectly. Thanks to everyone that volunteered for the event or came out and played.

AFC Gets New Uniforms

The teams look amazing in the new adidas uniforms and we have received many compliments from parents, coaches and other clubs on the new look. The new uniforms have given us an opportunity to differentiate ourselves from other clubs that wear red or white uniforms and people now know an AFC team on the field when they see one.

New Website AFC Website

Early in 2011 we launched the new AFC website, which provides so much more functionality and a much more user-friendly place to get the information needed, like game or practice schedules, contact information for anyone within the club, maps to fields and many other features. The site also provides the new online payment processing system, which helps families manage their club dues and eliminates the need to write checks or manually track you balance.

Lake Highlands Promotions for 3 AFC Teams in 2011

AFC had two teams qualify for Lake Highlands in 2011 and a third team get promoted from Lake Highlands D3 to D2. Making Lake Highlands is truly something to be very proud of. All three of these teams worked very hard to get where they are and we expect that they will continue to put in the effort and only get better in 2012. We are extremely proud of these teams and their coaches!

Four AFC Teams jump from Academy to Select in 2011

AFC had three 01 girls and one 01 boys team make the transition from Academy to Select this year. These players and their families should feel very proud of this accomplishment and we are very proud to have these teams representing the club. Becoming a select soccer player requires the level of commitment and hard work that all of these players have shown throughout their young soccer careers. Keep up the great work!

AFC Teams Show Well in Tournament Play

AFC teams participated in many soccer tournaments in 2011. Our teams were able to bring home several 1st and 2nd place finishes throughout the year and we are very proud of every one of these achievements. Our club continues to become more and more competitive and as we continue to have excellent showings in league and tournament play, people will continue to take note.
